What is an intensive?

A therapy intensive is a short-term, concentrated form of therapy that condenses weeks or months of traditional therapy into multiple hours per day over several consecutive days.

In traditional weekly therapy, much of the session is used checking in, remembering what happened last session, getting clear on goals, and debriefing. This means in a 60 minute session, there is about 40-45 minutes available for deeper work. Intensives concentrate the work and allow for more deep work to be done in the same amount of time.

While condensed, this format and location also support nourishment and spaciousness between sessions. When you step out of the responsibilities of daily life, you allow for more integration time. can include walks in nature, sitting by the ocean, walking the labyrinth or other creative practices.

Pre-Intensive Discernment

To help to determine timing, fit and goals, we start with a free 30 minute video consultation. We then meet for a 60 minute video intake session. Once we have scheduled your intensive, you will receive your custom pre-intensive workbook to fill out prior to our time together.

Intensive
Session

We will begin by reviewing your hopes/ goals and making a rought plan together for our time (this, of course can, and often does change!) Our work together may consist of parts work, the STAIR method, and DBR. We will discuss each step of the way and you can choose what feels right as we move through our time together.

Post-Intensive Follow-Up

Two to three weeks after the intensive we will have a 90 minute follow up call. We will explore how the work is settling in, and discuss any additional support you may need to continue your healing.
